A short link for posters and flyers that people can type
For print, pick a short link that forgives the usual mix-ups. Kort codes ignore capital letters and treat O as 0 and I or L as 1, so kort.my/SUMMERSALE and kort.my/summersa1e open the same link.
Choose a link with no end date: your own code of 6 to 20 letters and numbers, or a random 5-character link. Both are free.
Why printed links fail
People read a printed link from paper and type it into a phone. They add a capital letter, mix up O and 0, or take a lowercase l for a 1. If a service counts those as different characters, one slip sends the visitor to an error page.
Kort counts them as the same. kort.my/SUMMERSALE, kort.my/summersale and kort.my/summersa1e all open one link. A short link is also easier to read out loud, and it fits on a poster without wrapping.
Which Kort link to print
| Link | Looks like | How long it lasts | Print it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own code | kort.my/greenmarket | No end date | Yes |
| Random 5-character link | kort.my/k7m2q | No end date | Yes |
| 4-character rental | kort.my/abcd | 30 days, renewable for up to 1 year | No |
| 3-character rental | kort.my/abc | 1 to 3 days | No |
| 2-character rental | kort.my/ab | 1 hour | No |
Don't print a rented code. When it ends, the link stops working. After a rest of 1 day, 7 days or 30 days, depending on its length, anyone can claim the code, so a poster that's still up could send people to someone else's page.
Check your code before you print
- Type the code you want in the box above. The answer under it says whether the code is free.
- Log in with Google and paste the page you want people to see.
- Press Claim, then copy your link.
Don't want to log in? A random 5-character link works without an account. You can't pick its letters, so read it out loud once before you print it.
Choose a code that reads well on paper
- Use a word or two that people can say and spell, like greenmarket.
- Add a year if the poster is for one event, like greenmarket2026.
- Print the whole link, with the domain, such as kort.my/greenmarket. A bare code doesn't tell people where to type it.
- Lowercase letters read best in print. If a reader takes an l for a 1, the link still works.
Before you print
- Open the link on a phone and on a computer, and check that the page it opens works.
- Ask someone who hasn't seen it to type the link from the paper.
- Kort can't change a link's destination later, so keep that page online as long as the print is up.
- To compare two posters, make one link for each, such as kort.my/greenmarket1 and kort.my/greenmarket2. Log in first, and the Your links page shows a click count for each.
What Kort does not do for print
Kort does not make QR codes. If you want one, use a separate QR tool and test it before you print. Print the short link beside it, so people who don't scan can still type it.
It has no detailed analytics, only a click count, and it can't edit a link after you make it.
Common questions
Are Kort links case sensitive?
No. Kort ignores upper and lower case and treats O as 0 and I or L as 1. So kort.my/SUMMERSALE and kort.my/summersa1e open the same link. For more, see Related pages below.
Which Kort link should I print?
Print your own code of 6 to 20 characters or a random 5-character link. Both are free and have no end date. Avoid the 2-, 3- and 4-character rented codes.
Why not print a short rented code?
Those codes end after 1 hour, 1 to 3 days or 30 days. After a rest, anyone can claim the same code, so a printed link could lead somewhere else.
Can I change the destination after I print?
No. A Kort link can't be pointed at a new page later. Test the link before you print, and keep the page it opens online.
Does Kort make QR codes?
No. Kort makes the short link only. If you want a QR code, use a separate QR tool and test it before you print.
