Make a free custom short link
A custom short link lets you choose the end of the address, like kort.my/myshop2026. On Kort, your own code uses 6 to 20 letters and numbers. It's free and has no end date.
Type the code you want in the box to see if it's free. You don't need an account for the check. To claim the code, you log in with Google.
How to make a custom short link
To make a custom short link on Kort, check that your code is free, log in with Google and paste your long link. Your code can have 6 to 20 letters and numbers. It costs nothing and has no end date.
- Type the code you want in the box above, such as myshop2026.
- Read the answer under the box. It says if the code is free.
- Log in with Google. Google sign-in gives Kort your name, email address and Google account ID.
- Paste your long link and press Claim.
- Share your new link, kort.my/myshop2026.
Pick a code people will remember
- Use a word people can say and spell. Say it out loud once before you pick it.
- If the name is taken, add a number or a year, like myshop2026.
- Use letters and numbers only. Spaces, hyphens and other signs aren't allowed.
- Don't worry about capitals. kort.my/MyShop2026 and kort.my/myshop2026 are one code.
- Don't rely on telling O from 0, or I and L from 1. They count as the same character, so two codes that differ only there are one code.
- Brand names and offensive words are reserved, so nobody can claim them.
Custom code or short rented code?
Kort has two kinds of codes you pick yourself. Your own code of 6 to 20 characters has no end date. The shorter codes of 2, 3 and 4 characters are rented for a while.
| Code | Characters | How long it lasts | Account |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own code | 6 to 20 | No end date | Log in with Google |
| Random link | 5, picked for you | No end date | None |
| 4-character rental | 4 | 30 days, renewable for up to 1 year in all | Log in with Google |
| 3-character rental | 3 | 1 to 3 days | Log in with Google |
| 2-character rental | 2 | 1 hour | Log in with Google |
The rented codes are free during launch, and each one ends on a schedule. Anyone who opens a link that has ended sees a page that says so. Your own code doesn't end, so use it for anything you print or post for the long term.
After you claim your code
Your link appears on the Your links page, with a click count. Visitors who open it go straight to your long link, with no ad in between.
Links run on Cloudflare's network, near each visitor.
What Kort does not offer for custom links
- No custom domains. Your link lives on kort.my.

- No QR codes and no detailed analytics. You get a click count for each link.
- No API and no bulk shortening.
Common questions
Is a custom short link on Kort free?
Yes. A custom code of 6 to 20 letters and numbers is free and has no end date. You log in with Google to claim it.
Do I need to log in to make a custom link?
Yes, to claim your own code. Google sign-in gives Kort your name, email address and Google account ID. You can check if a code is free before you log in. A random 5-character link needs no account.
Can I use my own domain?
No. Kort links live on kort.my, and custom domains are not offered.
Can I change where a custom link points later?
No. Kort does not edit a link's destination. Check the long link first, and make a new link with a new code if you need a different page.
Why is my code not available?
Someone may already hold it, or it may be reserved. Brand names and offensive words are reserved. Codes ignore case, and O counts as 0 and I or L as 1, so a code that differs from a taken one only in those ways is the same code. Try another word, or add a number.
Can I use a hyphen or a space in my code?
No. Codes use letters and numbers only. Write two words as one, like myshop, or add a number.
